The historic centre of the Ukrainian metropolis of Odesa has been declared an endangered World Heritage site by the United Nations cultural agency, Unesco. Russia, which has bombed Odesa serval periods throughout its war with Ukraine, has criticised the decision.

On Wednesday, a Unesco panel assembly in Paris, France awarded the standing and explained they recognised “the excellent universal value” of the area.

The globe heritage committee’s 21 member states authorized the declaration, with 6 votes in favour, a person towards and 14 abstentions.
