The police said they suspected the driver shed handle at 8am (02:00 GMT) on Sunday and hit the railing of a recently designed main expressway, sending the bus, carrying much more than 40 travellers, tumbling 9 metres (30 ft) into the ditch.
“The loss of life toll has risen to 19. At minimum 12 folks were critically hurt. They have been sent to Dhaka Health care College Hospital in the money,” regional law enforcement chief Masud Alam explained to AFP news agency soon after the crash in the southern district of Shibchar.
The loss of life toll could rise even further as some of the hurt passengers are in critical condition, claimed Anowar Hossain, police official of Shibchar, where the crash occurred.
The metropolis is 80km (50 miles) from the cash Dhaka.
