One nurse at a hospital in Dreux, told French outlet RFI: “We can no longer care for people the way we should. We can’t talk to them on a human level. We can no longer respond to their basic needs.”
Mr Philippot continued that France has a “record trade deficit” – the amount by which the value of imports exceeds exports.
France registered a record trade deficit in 2021 of €85billion (£71.9billion) – its largest since records began in 1997. Banking analysts believe it will reach €100billion (£84.6billion) this year.
To compound matters, Mr Philippot argued France imports electricity – perhaps a reference to recent analysis which suggested that France, Europe’s largest energy exporter, may need to rely on imports this winter.
